Fall into Books is our new schools program that will take place during Children’s Book Week in November. Three notable authors will visit area schools during that time including Gail Carson Levine, author of the Newberry Honor book Ella Enchanted, local writer Pamela Walker, author of the Kung Fu Princess series, and Chris Rumble, author of the Uncle Stinky books.

Gail Carson Levine will visit Bowling Green schools November 15 and 16, 2007. Levine’s other books include Dave at Night, an ALA Notable Book and Best Book for Young Adults; The Wish; The Two Princesses of Bamarre; and the six Princess Tales books. She is also the author of the nonfiction book Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly and the picture book Betsy Who Cried Wolf, illustrated by Scott Nash. Her newest books are Fairest and Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand.

Local author Pamela Walker will visit Butler County Schools on November 13. Walker has written three books in the Kung Fu Princess series starring 14-year old character Cassidy Chen including Daughter of Light, In Gold and Jade, and Veil of Secrets. Walker has written more than 20 fiction and non-fiction books for kids and teens and was the 1READ author choice in 2007. She is also Outreach Manager for Bowling Green Public Library.

Chris Rumble will visit Simpson County Schools November 14. Rumble is the author of the highly-illustrated Adventures of Uncle Stinky series which includes The Good, the Bad and the Smelly, Stink Trek, and the Newberry Honor book Moby Stink. Rumble lives in Georgia and is also known as the Reading Guitar Man. He frequently incorporates music into his presentations and is an energetic and inspiring presenter for children.
